Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification
To apply for the ALP post, a candidate must possess one of the following:
- Matriculation (10th) + ITI from recognized institutions (NCVT/SCVT) in trades like Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Radio & TV, Electronics Mechanic, Motor Vehicle, Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, etc.
- 3-Year Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Automobile Engineering.
- B.E./B.Tech in the aforementioned engineering streams.
2. Age Limit (As of July 1, 2026)
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age: 30 Years
- (Note: Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-SM candidates as per government norms.)
3. Medical Standards
The ALP role is physically demanding. Candidates must meet the A-1 Medical Standard, which includes:
- Vision: 6/6, 6/6 without glasses (no fogging test).
- Color Vision: Must pass tests for Color Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision, and Night Vision.
The Selection Process: 4 Stages to Success
- CBT Stage 1 (Screening): A 60-minute test with 75 questions covering Maths, Reasoning, General Science, and Current Affairs. It is qualifying in nature.
- CBT Stage 2 (Merit): This consists of two parts:
- Part A: 100 questions (Maths, Reasoning, Basic Science & Engineering). Your score here determines your merit.
- Part B: 75 questions on the relevant trade. This is qualifying (35% pass mark required).
- Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Only for those who clear CBT-2. This tests your psychological and reactive capabilities.
- Document Verification (DV) & Medical Exam: Final verification of credentials and health fitness.
