Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

  • 10+2 (PCM): Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).
  • Mandatory JEE Requirement: To be eligible for TES-56, candidates must have appeared in JEE (Mains) 2026. The shortlisting will be strictly based on the Common Rank List (CRL).

2. Age Limit (As of January 1, 2027)

A candidate must not be below 16½ years and above 19½ years on the first day of the month in which the course commences.

  • Born Not Before: July 2, 2007
  • Born Not After: July 1, 2010
  • (Both dates inclusive)

3. Marital Status

Only unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply. Candidates must not marry until they complete their full training.


Selection Process: How You Become an Officer

The selection for TES-56 is a rigorous, multi-stage process that evaluates both your technical knowledge and leadership personality:

  1. Shortlisting: Applications are shortlisted based on the JEE Mains 2026 CRL and 12th PCM marks. The Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) fixes the cut-off percentile.
  2. SSB Interview (5 Days): Shortlisted candidates are called to one of the Selection Centres (Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru, or Jalandhar). This includes Psychology tests, GTO tasks, and a Personal Interview.
  3. Medical Examination: Candidates recommended by the SSB undergo a thorough medical fitness test.
  4. Final Merit List: Based on SSB marks and medical fitness, a final merit list is prepared for the 90 available slots.

Training and Career Benefits

  • Total Training: 4 Years.
    • Phase I (3 Years): Technical training at Cadet Training Wings (CTWs) in Pune, Mhow, or Secunderabad.
    • Phase II (1 Year): Final military training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun.
  • Degree: Candidates are awarded an Engineering Degree after successful completion.
  • Commissioned Rank: On completion, candidates are commissioned as Lieutenants.
  • Stipend: During the final year of training at IMA, cadets receive a stipend of ₹56,100 per month.
