The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has officially announced a massive recruitment drive for the post of Assistant Statistical Officer (ASO) and Assistant Research Officer (ARO) Statistics. Under Advertisement No. 05-Exam/2026, the commission has invited online applications from eligible candidates to fill positions across 19 different state departments.
In a recent update, the commission released a corrigendum increasing the initial vacancy count from 929 to a total of 1,565 posts, making this one of the largest opportunities for statistics and mathematics graduates in Uttar Pradesh this year.

Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?
The UPSSSC ASO recruitment is a “Mains” examination, meaning eligibility is strictly tied to your previous performance in state testing.
1. PET 2025 Score (Mandatory)
Candidates must have appeared in the UPSSSC Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2025. Only those with a valid scorecard and non-zero/non-negative normalized marks will be shortlisted for the Mains exam.
2. Educational Qualification
- Postgraduate Degree: A Master’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Commerce, Economics, or Statistics from a recognized university.
- Computer Certification: An ‘O’ Level Diploma from DOEACC (NIELIT) or a one-year Diploma in Computer Science from a recognized institution.
- Language: Proficiency in Hindi written in Devanagari script.
3. Age Limit (As of July 1, 2026)
- Minimum Age: 21 Years
- Maximum Age: 40 Years
- Age relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, OBC, and other reserved categories as per U.P. Govt rules.
Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The selection process is designed to test your core analytical and statistical knowledge.
- Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted based on their PET 2025 scores (typically 15 times the number of vacancies per category).
- Mains Written Exam: An objective-type test consisting of 100 Marks.
- Document Verification: Successful candidates will undergo a thorough check of their PG degrees and computer diplomas.
Salary Structure
The Assistant Statistical Officer is a prestigious Group ‘C’ post with a lucrative pay scale:
- Pay Level: Level-6
- Pay Scale: ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400
- Grade Pay: ₹4,200
- Total In-hand Salary: Approximately ₹48,000 – ₹52,000 (including DA, HRA, and other allowances).
