- Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a university incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India, or any other educational institution recognized by the UGC.
- Appearing Candidates: Students in their final year of graduation are eligible to apply for the Preliminary stage but must successfully clear their degree and produce original marksheets before the commencement of the descriptive Main Examination.

Selection Process & Crucial Exam Pattern Changes
The selection framework follows a strict three-tier competitive configuration:
Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (Qualifying)
- Format: Single paper, objective type (MCQs), worth 200 marks with a duration of 3 hours.
- Syllabus: General Knowledge and General Science (with a significant section dedicated to Rajasthan’s history, art, culture, geography, and economic environment).
- Negative Marking: A penalty deduction of 1/3rd mark applies for every incorrect answer.
- Critical New Rule: To curb malpractices, leaving blank answers can disqualify you. If you leave more than 10 questions completely unanswered without darkening the designated fifth option for skipped questions, you will be automatically disqualified.
Stage 2: Main Written Examination (Descriptive)
Candidates shortlisted from the Prelims stage will face four descriptive papers (General Studies I, II, III, and General Hindi/English), each worth 200 marks.
- Major Structural Shift: For the 2026 cycle, RPSC has completely removed the 2-mark short questions from the Mains pattern. The papers will now strictly contain only 5-mark and 10-mark analytical descriptive questions, demanding extensive structural writing skills.
Stage 3: Personality Test / Viva-Voce (100 Marks)
The final interview stage evaluates candidates on character, personality, leadership traits, and their fundamental knowledge of Rajasthani cultural heritage.
