The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) September 2026 session. This national-level exam is a mandatory qualification for those aspiring to teach in Central Government schools like KVs and NVs.

The online application window is now open, and the exam is set to be conducted on September 6, 2026. Below is everything you need to know to successfully navigate the CTET September registration process.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the CTET 2026 session, candidates must meet specific educational requirements:

  • For Paper I (Primary Stage: Classes 1–5): Senior Secondary (10+2) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or a 4-year B.El.Ed.
  • For Paper II (Elementary Stage: Classes 6–8): Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 2-year D.El.Ed or a 1-year/2-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
  • Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for CTET. However, the minimum age is generally 17–18 years.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The CTET is an offline (OMR-based) examination consisting of two papers. Each paper has 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for 150 marks, with a duration of 2.5 hours. There is no negative marking.

Paper I (Classes 1–5)

  3. Language II (Compulsory) (30 Marks)
  4. Mathematics (30 Marks)
  5. Environmental Studies (30 Marks)

Paper II (Classes 6–8)

  4. Mathematics & Science OR Social Studies (60 Marks)

The fee varies depending on the number of papers you choose and your category:

Step-by-Step Guide to Apply Online

  1. Visit the Official Portal: Go to CTET website.
  2. New Registration: Click on “Apply for CTET Sept 2026” and register using your mobile number and email ID.
  3. Fill the Application: Enter your personal details, academic qualifications, and choose your preferred exam papers.
  4. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your Photograph (10–100 KB) and Signature (3–30 KB) in JPG/JPEG format.
  5. Pay the Fee: Complete the transaction using Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI.
  6. Download Confirmation: Once the payment is successful, download and print the Confirmation Page for future reference.
