Vacancy Details (2026)
This year, the RBI has announced a total of 60 vacancies. While the number is more selective than in previous years, the prestige and career trajectory remain unparalleled.
- Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – General: 50-55 (Estimated)
- Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DEPR: 03-05 (Estimated)
- Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DSIM: 02-03 (Estimated)
Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification (As of April 1, 2026)
- Grade B (DR) General: A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD) OR a Post-Graduate degree with 55% marks (Pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD).
- DEPR: Master’s Degree in Economics / Econometrics / Quantitative Economics / Mathematical Economics / Integrated Economics Course / Finance.
- DSIM: Master’s Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/ Statistics & Informatics.
2. Age Limit (As of April 1, 2026)
- Minimum: 21 Years
- Maximum: 30 Years
- Relaxation: M.Phil. candidates (up to 32 years) and Ph.D. candidates (up to 34 years). Standard government relaxations apply for SC/ST (5 yrs) and OBC (3 yrs).
3. Number of Attempts
For the General Category, there is a limit of 6 attempts for the Phase-I examination. There is no limit for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates.
Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The RBI Grade B recruitment is a three-stage process:
Stage 1: Phase-I (Objective)
A 200-mark screening test (120 minutes) consisting of:
- General Awareness (80 Marks)
- Reasoning (60 Marks)
- English Language (30 Marks)
- Quantitative Aptitude (30 Marks)
Stage 2: Phase-II (Objective + Descriptive)
This stage consists of three papers (100 marks each):
- Paper I: Economic & Social Issues (50% Objective, 50% Descriptive)
- Paper II: English Writing Skills (100% Descriptive – typed via keyboard)
- Paper III: Finance & Management (50% Objective, 50% Descriptive)
Stage 3: Personal Interview
Candidates who clear the Phase-II cut-off are called for an interview worth 75 marks.
